Reflections on 2015

With the year coming to a close, I thought I would write a blog post reflecting on the year so far and potentially what 2016 holds. It’s truly been a whirlwind of a year and whilst the year started in grief when my beloved grandma passed away in January, it’s ended on a much more positive and hopeful note. 2015 was a big one for me, both professionally and personally. I feel like I made real progress in my career and then obviously and significantly, started my blog and YouTube channel at the beginning of summer.

Fast forward only a few months later, and never would I have guessed it would have grown so much, so quickly. I feel truly blessed to have found such a wonderful community. Upon starting my channel, there was so much trepidation and uncertainty – I didn’t know if anyone would like my videos, or in truth, like me and I was more than a little concerned about how much hate and judgement I would get for making the kind of videos and content that I do. This whole journey though has undoubtedly reaffirmed my faith in the value of putting yourself out there. Though I’m certainly not much of a Kanye West fan, something that he said in an interview recently really resonated with me:

People are so scared to lose that they don’t even try.

I thought this was so powerful in its simplicity and concision that I made a note of it to remind myself to never be so scared of ‘doing’ that I miss out on all the wonderful opportunities that the world presents for those who simply try.

In terms of 2016 and my blog/ YouTube channel, I would love to see it grow further. A source of frustration for me this year was my seeming inability to keep up with regular stand-alone blog posts so I want to try and commit more to this next year. With a semi-willing photographer in my boyfriend, Dan, I’m planning on incorporating outfit posts as well as perhaps even the occasional lookbook on my channel, hopefully providing some more well-rounded content that extends beyond just handbags.

The challenge with this of course isn’t necessarily the motivation to create, so much as the time pressures and constraints of committing to a very demanding job, maintaining a YouTube channel and actually finding time to spend with my boyfriend, family and friends – and this is before we even get to a blog! Nevertheless, I always endeavour to be more organised and efficient with my time so I can only hope to improve on this front in 2016.

Thank you to everyone who has watched, subscribed or supported my channel or blog in any way this year – I am beyond grateful to you all. I hope you’ve had an amazing 2015 – here’s to an even better New Year 🙂

Haha your comment made me laugh! Muji pens are indeed life-changing and I will let Dan know he has a good name! 🙂 The GST will be listed for £1650 but if you want it, then I will happily sell it to you for £1600. Keep in mind custom fees though – I'm not sure where you are based, if in the UK or US, it won't be an issue but otherwise you may have to pay a bit on top of this xx

Thank you, Amie. By the way, I wrote that before I found out about your giveaway just now. So all the dripping with honey compliments that are filling your comments sections…know that I meant it, and that I'm not one if the minions buttering you up for a giveaway.
Will definitely start buttering up my husband for your gst, though! Will get back to you asap. Is there a deadline in this? Thank you.

Amie!!!!!!!!!! I got a (gruff) go ahead from my dear hubby, lol! You made a promise – it's mine, right? I've ordered things online before, but have never bought a bag from someone before. How do we proceed? Could I have your email address so it's more private? Thanks!

    Dear Amie,

I really enjoy watching your videos, not only because they are inspiring, but also because you have such a lovely personality.:))
Some clothing brands you mentioned are really surprises for me, like the lulu lemon, new look, kurt Geiger. I live in Germany. Here you have only limited choice for affordable and gut quality cloth which are still trendy. I found that all the brands you mentioned ship also to Germany.

I'm looking forward to your new videos, especially the outfit videos. And I wish you and your family a lot luck and health!

    Best wishes
