It wasn’t that long ago that I was posting about which Louis Vuitton Alma BB to choose. Back then, I was struggling between the Rose Nacre and the Damier Ebene. At the time, I thought the Rose Ballerine shade had been discontinued – had I have known then that they were continuing the colour, I imagine my decision as to what Alma BB to get would have been made that much more difficult! That said, I’m still happy with my decision and have been loving the damier ebene.
Fast forward a few weeks later and I’m back with an awfully similar conundrum (if you can actually call it that with a straight face…). My Paris trip is coming up alarmingly soon (WHERE have the months gone!?) and I’m still dithering about what should be on my wishlist. I posted on the purseforum about my indecision with regards to my shopping list but then I went ahead and bought my Alma BB early – for no particular reason other than I am apparently completely impatient. I am now ‘only’ looking to buy one bag in Paris – two is too extravagant considering I only just bought my Alma BB and I think the remaining purchase will undoubtedly be a Neverfull in the MM size.
I was pretty sure I would go for another Damier Ebene piece… but that was before I spotted the Rose Ballerine coloured lining on the Mono version on the LV website. It’s such a gorgeous shade of pink and whilst I know this shouldn’t factor into my decision, I absolutely love the pouch that comes with the Mono Neverfull. My hesitancy comes from getting the same bag just in two only slightly different sizes – I really dislike doubling up and replicating styles (with the exception of Chanel flaps!) and two Mono Neverfulls feels more than a little indulgent. There is also the sense that the Mono is a slightly more casual style, especially in the MM size. The Damier Ebene probably looks a lot more work-appropriate and I’ve heard much about the durability and carefree nature of the material – something which is only being reinforced by my experience with the lovely Alma BB DE.
The DE in the MM certainly seems to be the more popular option in London at the moment; I see this bag a couple of times a day in the City whereas a sighting of a mono is pretty rare it seems nowadays.
I think it’s going to have to come down to a spur-of-the-moment decision when I try them both on, which I need to do for the size anyway. Whilst I’m pretty set on the MM, I haven’t tried the size on since I opted for and bought my GM Neverfull a few years ago. Back then, the GM size was a no brainer but lately, I’ve been feeling like it’s overwhelmingly big and that I’d just like something a little neater looking. I guess we’ll see what I can find in Paris!
Thank you so much for reading!
**Edit** I wrote this post before last weekend’s events unfolded. It’s difficult to comprehend when such tragedies take place and inevitably things such as shopping and deciding between new bags seem a lot more frivolous than usual. What happened in Paris was devastating and my heart goes out to all those affected. I can only hope for a world where people do not think that killing is the answer to their problems and that such unimaginable hate no longer exists. We’re still planning on going to Paris this weekend and no doubt the recent events will weigh heavily on our minds. We will continue to support and visit Paris though and will not let recent events dampen our view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world ♥
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed them 🙂
Hi!! (I am from Spain so sorry for my english…) I'm wondering if I should buy the Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene or in monogram … May you help me with the choice?
Thank you and kinf regards!
Hi! As you can see, I've been struggling with the decision myself! I think it comes down to usage. For me, the DE is perfect if you plan to use it for work – the mono is more casual for me 🙂
Hi Amie, I know you had your GM for quite some time now maybe you can help me. I just got a brand new monogram Neverfull in MM, wore it once only ( with my leather jacket ) and the vachetta got a crazy black color transfer. It's driving me nuts, especially because it's so new. Do you have any tips for removing it? I saw tons on various purse forums but for all methods it's always either love or hate. Also, does it get a bit less "sensitive" as it gets older and darker?
Many thanks for your help
J.
Hi Amie, did you end up getting a neverfull bag? considering the DE with rose ballerine lining , the monogram, or saving the additional $1,000 for the black empreinte leather which I can see on your IG or the epi leather
