It’s only when you discover a lip product that you really, really love that you realise just how much you only ‘liked’ all your other lip products. In this case, the Dior Lip Maximizers (full name: Dior Addict Lip Maximizer – Collagen Active Lip-Gloss) have blown all my other lip glosses out of the water. Now, technically this isn’t really billed as a standalone lip gloss – apparently, you’re meant to wear it under a regular lipstick or gloss but for all intents and purposes, it’s a lipgloss. And when I say lipgloss, I mean the most amazing lipgloss ever.
It goes on silky smooth, gives just the right amount of shine and isn’t sticky in the slightest. It also smells nice (a vaguely sweet, vanilla-type scent), moisturizes rather than dries out your lips and tingles when you put it on. This is supposedly the collagen working and the product is intended to not only plump your lips but also ‘restructure’ them – making them look more defined. Now, I’ve been using this pretty religiously but I can’t say I’ve really noticed any restructuring. Nor can I really see any plumping effect when worn on its own. It does however, seem to make your lips look fuller when layered with another lip product – as mentioned in my July favourites video (where I was also wearing the combo if you want to see it in action), I’ve been particularly enjoying this with the Burberry Lip Mist in Field Rose. Layered on top of a lipstick, the effect is lovely; the perfect amount of shine with a noticeably ‘plump’ look.
Not being particularly fussed at having bigger lips myself, I do tend to still wear these mainly on their own – for me, they’re a nice middle ground between a lip balm and a coloured lip product. I don’t feel too ‘done’ like I sometimes do with lipstick but at the same time, I get a slightly more polished look whilst getting all the moisturizing benefits of a balm. Needless to say, it’s love.
I now own two shades – the original 001 which is a lovely pale pink colour and the limited edition 006 Beige Sunrise. The colours are pretty similar to be honest, so don’t feel like you need to rush out to get all the available shades – the difference between them is negligible. They retail for £23.50 in the UK and for $33.00 in the US (so pretty much exactly the same price) and seem to be readily available at most department stores/ high end beauty suppliers.
Have you tried the Dior Lip Maximizers? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
