I’m not one of those girls who has 20 different perfumes for
different occasions and outfits. On the contrary, I love the idea of a ‘signature
scent’; something which is personal to you and adds a sense of continuity to
every ensemble. Of course, finding a signature scent is easier said than done. Throughout
the years, I’ve gone through many different fragrances from a well-loved Ralph
by Ralph Lauren during my teenage years to Chanel Mademoiselle in my early
twenties (which I still own and love).
In recent years, I’ve gravitated to slightly less common
fragrances – my picks are all readily available on the high street of course,
it’s just less likely that I’ll find myself in a group of friends and discover
that we’re all wearing the same perfume (which is what happened on several occasions
with Chanel Mademoiselle). I now own about 7 perfumes, which is way too many
but it’s taken me some time to get to the fragrances which I really love.
And so, I present to you my 3 perfume loves: Jo Malone ‘s Peony and Blush Suede, Tocca’s Brigitte
and Dolce and Gabbana’s L’Imperatrice
no. 3. I would love to say that I’ve narrowed it down to one, having found
my signature scent but honestly, I just love them all too much to decide and as
much as the idea appeals to me, I also like the variety of picking a scent to
suit my mood.
Peony and Blush Suede by Jo Malone
I bought this lovely little fragrance at Heathrow, marking
my first entry into the Jo Malone world and it’s safe to say, I’ve been pretty
much obsessed ever since. It’s light and feminine without being overly sweet,
which I’m not generally a fan of when it comes to scents. The official fragrance
description tells me there’s notes of red apple, jasmine and rose which sounds
about right and can generally be summed up by the word ‘lovely’. One for summer
days or just when you want to feel extra, ultra pretty!
Brigitte by Tocca
Brigitte by Tocca is a beautiful, warm fragrance with notes
of ginger and rose – I tend to save this for evenings out, not because it isn’t
suitable for daily wear but because it always feels a little special. Whenever
I wear it, my boyfriend comments on it – and for someone who is as adorably
unaware as him, this is quite something! As an added bonus, the packaging is
simply gorgeous 🙂
L’Imperatrice no. 3 by
Dolce and Gabbana
I discovered this little-known fragrance when Youtuber xclosetoreal recommended it. Unfortunately she no longer makes videos but I
will forever be indebted to her for mentioning this perfume. My scents of
choice tend to all have similar fruity and floral notes and this one is no
exception with rhubarb and red currant both present. This isn’t overly girlie
though with sandalwood and musk adding a bit of weight to it, making it the
perfect everyday fragrance. I’ve been using this for about 2 years now and have
yet to get tired of it – I alternate between this and the Jo Malone fragrance for
everyday and find they both make equally lovely daily options.
I’d love to hear what fragrances you are all loving at the moment and as always, thank you so much for reading!
